Matt Sugg

With more than 19 years of real estate experience, Matt Sugg is a trusted advisor specializing in residential, commercial, and investment real estate throughout Central Virginia. His strategic insight, strong negotiation skills, and relationship-first approach help clients make confident, informed decisions at every stage of the real estate process.

Matt began his career in 2007 with a private investment firm in Richmond focused on multifamily real estate. He later held executive leadership positions with several of the nation’s largest property management companies, overseeing portfolios of more than 10,000 apartment homes valued at over $2 billion. This institutional experience gives him a unique perspective on market analysis, property valuation, asset management, and investment strategy.

In 2021, Matt founded J&H Capital, a Virginia-based real estate consulting, recruiting, and investment firm, and also owns J&H Realty Group, a property management brokerage specializing in residential and commercial investment properties. His diverse background allows him to successfully guide first-time homebuyers, luxury clients, investors, and commercial real estate clients alike.

A graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management, Matt holds several respected industry designations, including Certified Apartment Manager (CAM), Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS), Certified Property Manager (CPM), and a Virginia Real Estate Broker’s License. He has served in leadership roles with the Central Virginia Apartment Association (CVAA), Virginia Apartment Management Association (VAMA), Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), and the Urban Land Institute (ULI), and remains an active member of the Richmond Association of REALTORS®.

Known for his honest communication, responsiveness, and client-first philosophy, Matt is committed to building lasting relationships and delivering exceptional results. Outside of real estate, he enjoys traveling with his wife, Meagan, and their two sons, Holden and Jack, playing golf and soccer, and exploring Richmond’s growing restaurant scene.
